We are pleased to present to you the Video Reportage, produced by the independent video documentation agency Raw-News , of the FishArt Porto Cultura event , held on 27 July 2024 at the port of Anzio, an extraordinary example of how civic participation can combine art and science to promote environmental sustainability. Involving fishermen, local institutions, artists and citizens, the event demonstrated how art can raise awareness of marine issues and inspire concrete actions to protect the oceans.
In the belief that it is necessary to understand the relationship that connects society and the Ocean in order to adopt sustainable management and behavior models, the FishArt project, in line with the ” One Ocean ” perspective of the United Nations and the Mission ” Restore our Ocean and waters by 2030 ” promoted by the European Commission , is helping to improve awareness between the health of the global ocean and its role in the functioning of the global ecological cycles of supporting life on Earth.
The FishArt project, in continuity with the civic research activities on marine pollution carried out during the previous European SeaPaCS project (documented in the Raw-News video ), uses the tools of art and participatory creativity in the belief that participation can bring to a deeper emotional involvement with the environment.

The path of the FishArt project began in February 2024 and included a series of preparatory meetings for the analysis and discussion of the problem of the redevelopment of the Very Innocenziano, a public space of crucial economic and cultural importance for the city of Anzio, which involved local and international experts , including the great awareness event with school children ” Let’s not wage war, let’s fight waste! ”. The meeting materials are available on the FishArt website.
